RISD College students Stage Sit-in for Gaza


College students on the Rhode Island College of Design have staged a sit-in at a number of buildings in downtown Windfall, becoming a member of the wave of pro-Palestine protests sweeping American faculty campuses. The motion is led by the RISD College students for Justice in Palestine (RSJP), who’ve known as for the college to divest from Israel in response to its escalating army marketing campaign in Gaza

Citing Columbia College’s Gaza solidarity encampment as inspiration, 22 college students and one non-student member of the Windfall neighborhood earlier this week occupied an administrative and tutorial constructing in downtown Windfall. RSJP wrote in a manifesto posted to social media that its members “will not be snug studying and taking part inside an establishment that touts decolonial rhetoric, boasting a decolonized curriculum, but refuses to provoke and act upon colonial practices of giving land again and liberation.”
